http://www.carot.de/ - Alexander's Homepage

Besides a practical training in programming and electrical engineering, Dr. Alexander Carôt has actively been playing bass and the NS-chapman-stick in several rock, pop and jazz ensembles. In 2004 he received a german engineering diploma within an interdisciplinary study program in order to combine the arts and technology. Motivated by the passion for remote music performances with musicians in different places, he completed his PhD in computer science in 2004 at the University of Lübeck/Germany. In this context he developed the "Soundjack" software (http://www.soundjack.eu) which has been used in numerous network music performances all over the world. Apart from valuable collaborations with CCRMA/Stanford, SARC/Belfast and IRCAM/Paris he is continuously improving "Soundjack" in terms of signal latency, quality and user friendliness. Currently he´s playing in the avant-garde-jazz project "Triologue" (http:/www.triologue.de), and in his recent research activities he's focusing on novel delay-optimized transmission approaches for network music performances.

http://simula.no/people/echa - Alexander's Homepage

With a University education in information science and electronic media technology from Ilmenau Technical University Alexander's PhD work focused on efficient, robust and quality-optimal multimedia networking protocols. His current research areas are advanced (3D) video processing architectures, real-time interactive media communication systems and audiovisual quality assessment methodology with a particular interest in electronic media arts, interaction design and information visualisation. Based on the investigation and understanding of human perceptual limits and cognitive processes Alexander creates software tools that make information technology suitable for humans in particular purposes. He is also very much concerned about security and privacy risks imposed on our society by badly designed and carelessly deployed networked IT systems and ubiquitous surveillance machines. Alexander is researcher and project manager in the Media Performance Group at Simula Research Laboratory, Norway.

Philip Fischer and Erkin Bayirli are the project coordinators of DAAL, who operate its research and development facility in Vienna.

DKIA (digitale konzeptuelle IT alchemie) are Simon Laburda and Nora Dibowski - working, experimenting with electronics with a special focus on sustainability. Our goal is to build new objects by combining recycled material and new technology. 2008 we build our first LED installation Salgonom and developed the open-source library aurinko and an animation editor toublo to control the LEDs. Since then we continued working with LEDs and realized several projects together with DAAL. Our current project is LEDsMOB, a mobile, flexible LED-Mesh.
